(Grand Forks, N.D.) Edgewood Healthcare and the Alzheimer’s Association invite area residents to celebrate “The Longest Day” event on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at King’s Walk Golf Course in Grand Forks. “This morning-to-evening event on the longest day of the year, honors those who live with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers,” explains Russell Kubik, President of Edgewood Healthcare.

This year’s event includes:

“We are excited to partner with the Alzheimer’s Association again this year. We appreciate our sponsors, many of whom have been participating for the past five years. We’re also proud to care for many people living with Alzheimer’s disease,” says Kubik. “We invite everyone to join us for part, or all, of The Longest Day.”

“A diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia can be frightening,” says Erin Hagen, Community Engagement Manager for The Alzheimer’s Association, Minnesota-North Dakota. “Efforts like those of Edgewood Healthcare help provide awareness about the disease and funds to help those with the disease best manage their symptoms. We appreciate their efforts and their dedication.”

Alzheimer’s disease is the third leading cause of death in North Dakota. More than 5.7 million Americans are living with dementia, and in the United States, someone develops Alzheimer’s disease every 65 seconds. In 2018, Alzheimer’s and other dementias will cost the nation $277 billion.
