Minnesota is located within the very heart of the Midwest. The people are known for being nice and holding their vowels a little longer than the rest of the nation. This northern state has gorgeous landscapes, four seasons, and plenty of great activities for seniors considering moving there. Here are some fun facts about Minnesota that may convince you to live in the state:

The Lakes

The state, nicknamed “Land of 10,000 Lakes,” is home to over 11,842 lakes over 10 acres in area and 21,871 lakes larger than 2.5 acres in total. Even the metropolitan areas, like the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, have lakes nearby. Lake Harriet and Calhoun are popular spots for people to walk and bike. Rollerblading and skateboarding are also encouraged. Seniors enjoy getting some exercise while strolling these paths and even getting out on man-powered or motorized boats.
