(Mandan, N.D.) Edgewood Vista and Mandan Golden Age Services recently partnered to bring forth a new meal program that will benefit area seniors. For over 40 years, Mandan Golden Age Services has provided area seniors with a local haven; a place to socialize, partake in various activities and events and enjoy a warm mid-day meal. Thousands of seniors have benefited from their services over the last four decades.

As access to senior services continues to change, the Mandan Golden Age team and the leadership of Edgewood Vista in Mandan, a local Assisted Living and Memory Care community, realized they could better serve the senior population by partnering to offer this first-of-its-kind meal voucher program in the Mandan area. This program is unique, as it offers seniors the option of having their noon and/or evening meal, seven days a week, in the Timber Rock Café dining room at Edgewood Vista rather than at the senior center.

In honor of this new program, Edgewood Vista and Mandan Golden Age invite the public to join them for a Dedication Celebration in the Timber Rock Café dining room:

When: Thursday, November 2nd beginning at 11am
Where: 2801 39th Avenue SE, Mandan, ND

The implementation of this federally subsidized program has come during a very crucial time. Senior centers and other senior-focused programs across the country continue to struggle with underfunding, many barely keeping their doors open. Western North Dakota has been no stranger to this phenomenon, with many of the small, rural towns being the hardest hit. The number of locations across the state in which seniors can find affordable meals continues to dwindle.

The partnership between Edgewood Vista and Mandan Golden Age promises to broaden services for local seniors, through providing a second dining location, enhanced meal options and additional meal times. The Timber Rock Café at Edgewood also offers seniors an enhanced dining experience, through diverse menu options, reviewed twice each year by the Edgewood dining team; offering new, refreshed five-week cycle menus in the spring/summer and the fall/winter.

Who is eligible?
The voucher program is available to participants age 60+ and their spouses. The goal is not only to provide affordable meals for seniors, but also to help them nutritionally, financially and socially. Eligible participants can register by calling Mandan Golden Age. Once a participant is registered, they may obtain meal vouchers at Edgewood or Mandan Golden Age. The voucher can then be redeemed for a noon or evening meal at Edgewood Vista in Mandan.

It is requested that participants call Edgewood in advance to make meal reservations: (701) 663.5664
